Born in Lucknow and trained in classical music, with a Visharad in the discipline, Aakanksha Awasthi began her career in Hindi television before six award-winning years as Rohini in Colors TV's long-running hit Uttaran. In 2018 she crossed into Indian cinema as the lead in the super-hit Dabang Sarkar opposite Khesari Lal Yadav, and has since played leads in Jai Hind and Vivaah.
